Pacific Northwest Nature Photographers Events Silver Falls State Park, Fall, October 21st, 2006On Saturday, October 21st at 7:00AM the Pacific Northwest Nature Photographers will meet at the Upper North Falls parking lot at Silver Falls State Park for a full day of fall photography. We will begin the 6 mile round trip morning hike, turning around once we reach Lower North Falls. Once back at our vehicles, we will drive to the lodge, have lunch, and rest up some. After we finish up at the lodge, we will then begin the afternoon portion of the hike. We'll first photograph the South Falls, then do the 1.6 mile loop to Lower South Falls and back. What to expect at Silver Falls
The Canyon Trail is a nationally recognized trail system that leads hikers along the banks of the north and south forks of Silver Creek. It takes you to ten majestic waterfalls, ranging from the grand South Falls (177 feet), to the delicate Drake Falls (27 feet). Four of these falls have an amphitheater-like surrounding where you can walk behind the falls and feel the misty, crisp spray. It's a fairly easy hike (minus some lengthy stairs) but be prepared, it is a hike in Oregon during October so it' might be raining.
Being an Oregon State Park, Silver Falls has a $3 day use fee per vehicle so be prepared for that.
